The Supreme Court today expressed dissatisfaction over the Centre’s response on appointment of search committee members for a Lokpal. A bench of Justices Ranjan Gogoi, R Banumathi and Navin Sinha asked the Centre to file a fresh affidavit giving relevant details of the search committee. Indian money in Swiss banks fell 34.5% in 2017: Goyal

Indian deposits in Swiss banks fell by 34.5 per cent in 2017 and by 80 per cent since the Narendra Modi government came to power in 2014, Finance Minister Piyush Goyal said today, citing data from the global body of central banks, the Bank for International Settlements (BIS). ‘Hundreds missing in Laos after dam collapse’

Hundreds of people are missing and an unknown number believed dead after the collapse of a hydropower dam in southeast Laos, state media reported today. The accident happened at a dam in southeastern Attapeu province late yesterday, releasing five billion cubic metres of water with “several human lives claimed, and several hundreds of people missing,” Laos News Agency said. The dam is being built by Xe Pien-Xe Namnoy Power Company, or PNPC.
