{"id":25545,"date":"2020-01-05T05:10:39","date_gmt":"2020-01-05T05:10:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/dinnews.in\/?p=25545"},"modified":"2020-01-06T05:15:29","modified_gmt":"2020-01-06T05:15:29","slug":"imran-khan-condemns-nankana-sahib-incident-says-it-goes-against-his-vision","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dinnews.in\/?p=25545","title":{"rendered":"Imran Khan condemns Nankana Sahib incident, says it goes against his &#8216;vision&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan on Sunday condemned the recent incident of vandalism at the Nankana Sahib, saying it goes against his &#8220;vision&#8221; and the government will show &#8220;zero tolerance&#8221; against those involved in it.<\/p>\n<p>Gurdwara Nankana Sahib, also known as Gurdwara Janam Asthan, is a site near Lahore where the first Guru of Sikhs, Guru Nanak, was born.<\/p>\n<p>According to media reports, a violent mob had attacked the Gurdwara and pelted it with stones on Friday. A team of police had to intervene briskly to control the situation.<\/p>\n<p>Breaking his silence on the incident, Khan said that there is a &#8220;major difference between the condemnable Nankana incident and the ongoing attacks across India on Muslims and other minorities&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The former is against my vision &amp; will find zero tolerance &amp; protection from the govt incl police &amp; judiciary (sic),&#8221; he tweeted, referring to the Nankana Sahib incident.<\/p>\n<p>Khan claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi&#8217;s &#8220;vision supports minorities oppression and the targeted attacks against Muslims.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>He also alleged that the Indian police, supported by the government, are leading attacks against Muslims.<\/p>\n<p>India has strongly condemned vandalism at the revered Gurdwara and called upon the Pakistan government to take immediate steps to ensure the safety and security of the Sikh community there.<\/p>\n<p>On Saturday, Indian leaders cutting across party lines and various outfits condemned the mob attack on the historic Gurdwara, terming it as &#8220;cowardly&#8221; and &#8220;shameful&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Hundreds of protesters thronged the streets near the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi demanding that Islamabad provide adequate security to Sikh shrines and community members there.<\/p>\n<p>Shiromani Gurdwara Parbhandhak Committee (SGPC), the apex body which manages Sikh shrines in India, said it will send a four-member delegation to Pakistan to take stock of the situation and urged the Pakistan government to take stringent action against the culprits who attacked the gurdwara &#8211; one of the holiest sites in Sikhism.<\/p>\n<p>Pakistan&#8217;s Foreign Office on Friday rejected the media reports that the Gurdwara Nanakana Sahib was desecrated in a mob attack, saying the birthplace of founder of Sikhism remains &#8220;untouched and undamaged&#8221; and the &#8220;claims of destruction&#8221; of one of the holiest Sikh shrines are &#8220;false&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan on Sunday condemned the recent incident of vandalism at the Nankana Sahib, saying it goes against his &#8220;vision&#8221; and the government will show &#8220;zero tolerance&#8221; against those involved in it.
