The night temperature in nearby Leh town rose nearly four degrees from a low of minus 12.4 degrees Celsius yesterday to settle at a low of minus 8.7 degrees Celsius last night, he said.<\/p>\n
Srinagar – the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir — recorded a minimum temperature of minus 3.3 degrees Celsius, marginally up from the previous night’s minus 3.9 degrees Celsius, the official said.<\/p>\n
Qazigund – the gateway town to the Valley — in south Kashmir registered a low of minus 4.2 degrees Celsius, compared to minus 4 degrees Celsius on the previous night, the official said.<\/p>\n
He said that the night temperature in Kokernag, in south Kashmir, settled at a low of minus 1.4 degrees Celsius.<\/p>\n
Kupwara recorded its minimum at minus 4.6 degrees Celsius, a decrease of over two degrees from the previous night’s minus 2.5 degrees Celsius, the official said.<\/p>\n
Pahalgam — the south Kashmir health resort which also serves as one of the base camps for the annual Amarnath Yatra — recorded a low of minus 6.1 degrees Celsius last night, compared to the previous night’s minus 5.8 degrees Celsius, he said.<\/p>\n
The official said that the mercury at the famous ski resort of Gulmarg, in north Kashmir, recorded minus 7.5 degrees Celsius, an increase from the previous night’s minus 9 degrees Celsius.<\/p>\n
