HC closes defamation suit filed by Jaitley against Kejriwal

The Delhi High Court today closed the Rs 10 crore defamation suit filed by Union minister Arun Jaitley after Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal apologised to him. Jaitley had filed this second defamation suit after Kejriwal’s former lawyer Ram Jethmalani allegedly “abused” him in open court during the proceedings of the original defamation suit against the Aam Aadmi Party chief and five other party functionaries. The BSE Sensex turned choppy after falling nearly 100 points today and NSE Nifty slipped below the 10,200-mark on fresh losses in metal, healthcare, Teck, IT and realty stocks amid muted global cues. Malaysia intercepts boat carrying Rohingya refugees

Malaysia’s navy chief says authorities have detained a boat carrying 56 people believed to be Muslim Rohingya refugees who fled from Myanmar. Adm Ahmad Kamarulzaman Ahmad Badaruddin says the boat was intercepted after it entered Malaysian waters and is now at the northern resort island of Langkawi. He said today that all 56 passengers, mostly children and women, were safe but tired and hungry, and were given food and water.
