Amid tight security, the 14th batch of 6,400 Amarnath Yatra pilgrims on Wednesday here left for twin base camps of the 3,880-metre-high holy cave shrine in south Kashmir Himalayas, officials said. The yatra, which was suspended from Jammu due to bad weather on Sunday, resumed on Monday. With 18,257 new coronavirus infections being reported in a day, India’s tally of COVID-19 cases rose to 4,36,22,651, while the active cases increased to 1,28,690, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Sunday. The death toll climbed to 5,25,428 with 42 new fatalities, the data updated at 8 am stated.
