A Thane court has sentenced two men to four years’ rigorous imprisonment for molesting two minor girls residing in their neighbourhood. The Bombay High Court has held that the Mumbai University’s ordinance mandating a minimum 50 per cent attendance was in the interest of students and thus, even the highest authority in the university had no power to allow any undue relaxation in the rule. The Madras High Court today banned people from carrying mobile phones to Madurai’s famous Meenakshi Amman temple where a fire mishap gutted several shops last week.
