A nine-judge Constitution bench of the Supreme Court Thursday began deliberations on the legal issue of whether the top court can refer questions of law to a larger bench while exercising its review jurisdiction. The Delhi High Court Wednesday said all convicts in the Nirbhaya gang rape and murder case have to be executed together, and not separately. Justice Suresh Kumar Kait directed convicts to file any application which they want within one week after which authorities should act. The high court dismissed the Centre’s plea challenging the trial court’s order staying the execution of the convicts.
