DAVP barred 51 newspapers from getting govt ads for 2 months in Sept: Govt

The nodal agency for central government’s advertisements, DAVP, had suspended the empanelment of 51 newspaper in September for two months, most of them for publishing paid news, Parliament was informed today. As many as 37 newspapers were suspended from September 13, 2017 to November 12, 2017 for indulging in paid news , according to a list provided by Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Rajyavardhan Rathore in the Lok Sabha. A super luxury yacht owned by embattled liquor tycoon Vijay Mallya has been seized by authorities in Malta over unpaid wages amounting to USD 1 million to its crew, including some Indians, according to an international traders union. Govt sanctions special monetary grant to ED

In a boost to the Enforcement Directorate (ED), the government today sanctioned a special monetary allowance for it, akin to what is granted to the investigators and employees of the premier probe agency – the CBI. The Union finance ministry issued an order granting a ‘special incentive allowance’ at the rate of 20 per cent of the basic pay, on par with the CBI, to the officers and staffers of the ED.
